Final Seminar of the SCOOP@F Project
18/07/2024 | Uncategorized

SCOOP is the only C-ITS deployment project in Europe built on a cooperation between road managers and car manufacturers, addressing all real-life challenges: privacy, cybersecurity, industrial processes, tenders, compliance verification, and interoperability. Funded 50% by the European Commission, in two parts (2014-2015 and 2016-2019), the project concluded at the end of 2019. These six exciting years saw public authorities, local governments, researchers, car manufacturers, and equipment suppliers work together to define, experiment, and deploy the C-ITS services of tomorrow.
The final seminar of the SCOOP project took place on November 20-21 in Bordeaux. 175 participants, including a quarter of foreign participants and representatives from the European Commission, attended the event.
On the first day, the results of the evaluations conducted within the project were presented, including user acceptance, road safety and congestion improvements linked to socio-economic evaluations and business models, organizational, health, and legal impact assessments for road managers and their agents, and technical system evaluation. The results of interoperability tests (called CrossTests) conducted between the countries involved in the project (France, Spain, Portugal, Austria) were also presented.
Several highlights punctuated the event: a roundtable on “C-ITS for Local Authorities” hosted by DIR Ouest, presentations by SCOOP’s C-ITS equipment suppliers, and a showcase of SCOOP’s best moments and memories. The climax was the demonstration of the fully hybrid solution developed in SCOOP, filmed on the Bordeaux ring road with three vehicles from DIR Atlantique, Renault, and PSA, and broadcast live in the event’s amphitheater. This was complemented by individual field demonstrations on the second day for some participants.

The seminar continued with a presentation of the future prospects and developments of C-ITS at the French and European levels, including harmonization efforts within the C-Roads Platform, and concluded with a closing speech by the European Commission. SCOOP was the first flagship C-ITS project in France and among the first in Europe, laying the foundations for the system’s architecture and security. Although SCOOP is ending, its work continues and evolves in other ongoing French C-ITS projects: C-Roads France, InterCor, InDiD. New services, particularly logistics, urban, and autonomous vehicle services, will be developed.
The seminar presentations will be published on the SCOOP website in the coming days.
