18/07/2024 | Coopits

The DIR-Est (Interdepartmental Directorate of Eastern Roads) has recently added new services to enhance the Coopits application, providing additional information to strengthen road safety:

  • Partial or Complete Lane Closure Alerts: You will now be notified in real-time of partial or total lane closures on your route, allowing for better planning and avoiding surprises.
  • Traffic Jam Reports: With this feature, you will be informed of areas where traffic is heavily slowed or blocked, enabling you to adjust your route accordingly.
  • Animal on the Road Alerts: Real-time alerts about animals on your route will help you stay vigilant and avoid potential hazards.
  • Person on the Road Alerts: You will receive real-time notifications of people on your route, allowing you to anticipate and adjust your speed to ensure everyone’s safety.

These new services provide valuable information for safer driving and better traffic management.

About Coopits:

Coopits is a free road information application developed as part of partnership projects between various road information stakeholders.

It aims to integrate into the services offered by Bison Futé.

It falls within the framework of cooperative intelligent transport systems (C-ITS). C-ITS refers to the exchange of information between infrastructure and vehicles, and between vehicles.

The application allows you to receive real-time traffic information from road managers to assist with driving.

It provides information such as the locations and availability of parking spaces or the optimal speed to reach a traffic light when it turns green.

Available on Android, it can overlay a pre-installed navigator or operate independently.

It is also available in beta testing on iOS but operates independently only. Designed by the Ministry of Ecological Transition and Territorial Cohesion as part of partnership projects funded 50% by the European Commission, it promotes eco-driving by avoiding waiting at traffic lights and indicating lanes reserved for carpooling or public transport. Its ergonomics have been optimized to avoid causing distraction when displaying information.

It is supported by the Directorate of Road Safety due to its significant contributions to road safety.
