The Interdepartmental Directorate for Eastern Roads (DIRE) is a decentralised agency responsible for the operation, maintenance and modernisation of the national road network covering the regions of Lorraine, Franche-Comté and Champagne-Ardennes, totalling 1,200 km, of which 525 km have been transferred to the Grand Est region since 1 January 2025.

As such, it carries out network operations and maintenance, including engineering, traffic management, user information, safety and patrol duties.

Projects / Use Cases

As a partner in the Scoop, C-Roads and, more recently, InDiD projects, DIRE has installed 36 road-side units along a 125km stretch of the A31 motorway
