DIR Mediterranean

Presentation
The Interdepartmental Road Directorate (DIR) Mediterranean is a department dedicated exclusively to the operation and development of national roads in the PACA region and parts of Occitanie and Rhône Alpes-Auvergne.
It is one of the 11 National Interdepartmental Road Directorates, which are responsible for the maintenance, operation and road engineering of national roads and toll-free motorways remaining under the government's responsibility.
The DIR Mediterranean is responsible for the maintenance and operation of all national roads in Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, Hautes-Alpes, Bouches-du-Rhône, Gard, Var and Vaucluse, and part of the national network in Hérault, Lozère and Isère.

- 50 km in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes
Projects / Use Cases
The DIRMED’s project is to install 16 roadside units on the main routes in its network around Marseille and to equip all patrol vehicles in the same area with embedded equipment. These installations will enable the DIRMED to offer users many of the use cases described in the project.
The following use cases are concerned:
- A1 Traffic data collection
- A2 PVD on detected events
- A3 PVD on declared events
- B1 a&b Alert
- C3 In-vehicle signage
- D2a and b Animal or people on the road
- D3 Obstacle on the road
- D4 Alert stationary vehicle / breakdown
- D5 Alert accident area
- D7 Alert wrong way driving
- D8 Unmanaged blockage of a road
The OBUo use cases will also be deployed via equipment embedded in the operator’s patrol vehicles.
