DIR North
Presentation
DIR Nord, a decentralised government department, manages approximately 1,100 km of road network straddling 2 regions (Hauts-de-France and Grand-Est) and employs more than 650 agents for an annual budget/user cost of around €115 million.
The two main responsibilities of this decentralised government department are maintaining and operating the non-concessionary national road network (national roads and motorways).

Generic use cases have been developed, notably use cases C2 (dynamic speed limit) and C3 (on-board VMP), with a new phase of testing planned as part of the SCALE project.
Participation in SCALE:
Participation in InDID: at this stage, C-ITS has been deployed by equipping the infrastructure with 46 Neogls Roadside Units (RSUs), as well as fitting 50 operational vehicles from the DIR Nord fleet with operator on-Board Units (OBUo).
DIR Nord broadcasts both scheduled and unscheduled events across its entire network via Channel #2 (i.e. from DIR Nord’s TMS to the end user). In particular, information on roadworks, accidents and obstacles on the road use cases – which account for 95% of warnings recorded at the traffic control centre – is made available to road users via the COOPITS app.
Furthermore, more than 200 kilometres are covered by the road-side unit network, mainly on the motorways in the Lille conurbation and along the coast, which account for a significant proportion of traffic.
