Saint Brieuc Armor Urban Area – SBAA

Saint Brieuc Armor Agglomération

Presentation

The Saint Brieuc Armor Urban Area (SBAA) is a public inter-municipal cooperation body comprising 32 towns and 152,000 inhabitants. It is the main urban centre in the Côtes d'Armor department.

As a Mobility Organising Authority, the SBAA is rolling out an ambitious programme, reflected in the Urban Mobility Plan approved in 2019. In addition to organising public and school transport, the SBAA is carrying out large-scale development projects such as the "Transports Est Ouest" (TEO) high-level bus service, the Cycling Master Plan approved in 2021, and is managing major facilities such as the Maison du vélo located at the Pôle d'Échanges Multimodal (Multimodal Interchange Hub) at Saint-Brieuc SNCF station. The aim of this mobility policy is to improve the efficiency of alternatives to the private car, in particular by developing intermodality.

Projects / Use Cases

Saint Brieuc Armor Urban Area has been involved in pre-deployment projects for collaborative intelligent transport systems since 2014. A partner in the Scoop project within ITS Brittany, it is associated with the C-Roads project and today with InDiD via collaboration agreements. The Saint-Brieuc Armor Urban Area has installed a roadside unit on its network, and has also deployed an on-board system in one of its vehicles.

Eventually, in collaboration with DIRO and CD22, the Saint-Brieuc Armor Urban Area wants to use these new technologies to enhance the roadside information it provides to users: traffic conditions, road hazards, road works, as well as the availability of parking spaces and their related services, information on the timetable for the next public transport service when approaching the car park, etc.

In the short term, the Saint-Brieuc Armor Urban Area is developing the following use cases (in Vo2V): Animal and pedestrian on the road alert (D2), Obstacle on the road alert (D3), Accident alert (D5), Unmanaged obstruction alert (D8), information on the position of an approaching / patrolling / intervening road operator vehicle (B2).
