Project objectives

The SCALE project aims to remove the obstacles to the industrialization of cooperative intelligent transport systems (C-ITS) in France and Europe.
The aim is to enable large-scale operational deployment to ensure European leadership in this strategic field.

SCALE focuses on three major challenges:

1. A technological challenge

The technologies and architectures available are numerous, sometimes competing and often complementing each other, creating uncertainty for investment.
SCALE proposes an assessment of each use case to identify the most relevant technological combinations, meeting the needs of stakeholders (managers, local authorities, operators, manufacturers) and end-users.

2. An operational challenge

Lack of visibility and maturity are holding back large-scale deployment.
The project is working to reinforce the production launch, compliance and robustness of services. To this end, compliance sites will be set up to test and validate solutions in real-life conditions.

3. A socio-economic challenge

The economic model remains an obstacle: investments are heavy for road managers, and the benefits must be shared between public and private players.
SCALE fosters dialogue between manufacturers, local authorities, service providers and public authorities in order to co-construct economic models.
