Project design

The project is structured into 5 Work Packages (WP) corresponding to a set of tasks.

schemas of project structured into 5 Work Packages
WP1 objective: To ensure the coordination, harmonization and interoperability of C-ITS services on a European scale.

To achieve this, it relies on several actions:
  • Support for national participation in the C-Roads platform.
  • Technical and strategic harmonization between SCALE partners.
  • Carrying out joint transnational tests as part of C-Roads and SCALE.

WP2 objective: To define a harmonized general architecture enabling the efficient deployment of C-ITS services on the sites concerned.

Method:
  • Follow the product development life cycle: definition, specification, development, validation.
  • Evaluation of each use case to determine the level of implementation: testing and/or full deployment on pilot sites.

WP3 objective: Deploy mature C-ITS use cases on a large scale and integrate new innovative services.

Key actions:
  • Set up the infrastructure required for deployment and testing (compatible roadside units, interconnections with traffic management centers, etc.).
  • Increase road network coverage and the number of services available.
  • Detailed planning of technical deployments, on both infrastructure and vehicle sides.
  • Guaranteed interoperability and robustness of equipment.

WP4 objective: Evaluate the practical impact of C-ITS services on mobility, safety, the environment and acceptability

Indicators evaluated:
  • Road safety: reduction in accidents and their severity.
  • Traffic efficiency: reduction in journey times and queues.
  • Environment: pollutant emissions, climate impact.
  • Socio-economics: user acceptance, monetary benefits.
  • A dedicated evaluation group will coordinate methods and share experience.

WP5 objective: Ensure efficient and rigorous project management, on time and with transparent decision-making processes

Main tasks:
  • Follow-up of results and deliverables of all work packages, within budget and on time.
  • Coordination between partners and interface with CINEA for technical and financial aspects.
  • External communication: promoting the project, disseminating results and raising awareness among road managers.
